Freilichtmuseum Ballenberg in Spring
One of my university courses recently had a little field trip to the Open-Air Museum Ballenberg near Brienz (BE). I knew what kind of setting to expect as I had been there often in my youth, my grandmother having lived not far off, in the neighbouring village.
The special thing about the Museum is that they have built a “mini Switzerland” by building up classic rural houses from all over the country that were offered (I think most were gifts and some surely bought for a small fee) to them.
Back when I used to visit I wasn’t all that interested in photography as I am now, so I decided to take my Rolleiflex Old Standard with me, as well as my Zeiss Ikon Maximar 207/7 to keep in style with the buildings. The latter didn’t see much use as I didn’t want to hold up my course-mates too long faffing around with the camera and tripod. But I’m quite happy with some of my shots with the Rolleiflex.
These photos were shot on Ilford HP5+, my current go-to film for the camera.
I have added details to the houses in the descriptions as well as the “inventory number” of the houses. For more info you may visit the museums website.
