Summer Jamboree Senigallia 2023

Equipped with my Ricoh TLS401, my Trioplan 100/2.8 (~1953, not the new remake) and Ilford Delta 3200 pushed to iso 12800 I hung around the concert stages. During the first few days of the Festival I shot the following bands from the crowd: Rob Heron, The Senti-Mentals (their first concert in a decade!) and The Kabooms.

After reading mixed results on google upon searching how pushing Delta 3200 that far would turn out I decided to go for it anyway. I got it processed at a local lab to make sure that if I get any inconsistencies – I read that some frames turn out very flat compared to others – I could not blame any sloppy processing on my part. The main reason for pushing the film that far was so that I could get a decent shutter speed and also stop the lens down a little since it is very dreamy (yeah, let’s call it dreamy!) wide open, as evidenced by frames 14, 20 and 23.. I aimed to shoot at minimum shutter speed of 1/125 or 1/250 to mitigate as much motion blur as possible, and not having a flash I was forced to go the crazy iso route.
In my opinion that decision was the best I could have made – yes the developing was expensive – but the images together with the lens’ rendering came out so much better than I would ever have dared to expect! Some frames nearly make it look like I’ve found the secret to time travel.

I hope you’ll enjoy the photos as much as I do, and as I did taking them!
